I think its a preview of what is to come, I just read my latest "Draft" Magazine and they reviewed the Sam Witte bier. On the back cover Sam Adams was advertising their new line of Imperial Series Beers; The Wee Heavy, Double Bock, Imperial White, and Imperial Stout.
A friend of mine said the SA Summer Ale is coming out next week as he always celebrates springtime in his backyard with his new kegorator, so maybe right now SA is meeting the demands for Summer Ale.
I have a good beer shop by me, I'll ask my guy who is the expert when I'm more mobile.
I just went on Sam Adams site, you can get a six pack out by me in Lawrenceville at the Joe Canal's discount liquor store. It is on tap at two restaurants in downtown Princeton. I'm hoping its not out of season yet as I would love to try it.
Ok, I made a small (non-advised) trip after my docs appointment. I went by my favorite liquor store and asked about the SA REV Rye. Turns out it is a complete mysetery of why they (Sam Adams) has not sold it on its own/ You can only get it a sampler 12 pack (in which I bought one) and on draught. Sam Adams has been very mum about their rye and have not given any details about it. The guys at the store found the Sampler Pack on accident as it was just being displayed for sale. Funny thing was the sampler had an advertisement pushing the White Beer and the Golden Pils.
I wonder if the Rye is a small batch beer that was made but didn't test well. Im trying one tonight as I light up my first cigar of spring.
I just had a bottle of Revolutionary Rye...its not bad. Now I say this having one of the best rye beers ever at the Triumph Brewery in Princeton, NJ. Their Jewish Rye Bread Beer is so good you think you're eating a piece of Jewish Rye, they pair their corn beef dishes with this beer. SA Revolutionary Ale on its own is a good beer, not overpowering as some of the hoppier SA beers can get. It doesn't have a bitter aftertaste, but it seemed that it had a watered down taste. Having said that I feel that I also served it incorrectly as I used a Sam Adams Speciality Glass which I kept in the freezer. The bottle was cool, not cold, then poured into an ice-cold glass. I think if I drank the rye beer at say, cooler than room temperature and not at Bud Light Temp, I might have tasted more of the ingrediants. So, I chalk up the shortcomings of the Revolutionary Rye to my previous experiences, and my possible mishandling.

I did not know Triumph was making a rye...damn this day job, I'd be doing a road trip tomorrow to get some. Because I haven't the foggiest if it's sold up here.
